Alexander Seluyanov is a professional ice hockey player from Ufa, Russia. The Detroit Red Wings selected him at round 4 as #128 overall drafts during the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He was raised in Salavat Yulayev Ufa’s hockey school and made his debut in the 1999-2000 seasons when he was 17. He played for a total of 14 games and his performance gave him a spot to Russia’s ’82 national team. He stayed with this team for the most part of 2000 and 2001. The Russian defense also represented Russia at the 2000 U18 World Junior Championships.

Known for his large build that gives him an advantage when it comes to solid defensive positioning, Seluyanov spent a lot of time in the Slavat Main lineup although he performed merely secondary duties and filled in the league’s requirement for junior players. He was also invited to play with the national ’81 team in several international tournaments, and represented Russia at the 2000 U20 WJC. He was selected by the Detroit Red Wings as their 128th overall in the fifth round during the 2000 drafts.
