Alexei Yemelin is a professional ice hockey player who plays defence for the Ak Bars Kazan team of the KHL (Kontinental Hockey League). Yemelin was born on April 25, 1986 in Tolyatti, USSR, and was first started playing professional hockey when he signed with CSK VVS Samara.
Much of Yemelin’s professional career so far has been tied with HC Lada Togliatti, which is a part of the Russian Superleague. While he was drafted in 2004 by the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL, Yemelin signed with Ak Bars Kazan in 2007.
Aside from playing professional ice hockey, Yemelin also plays regularly with the Russian national team, and has been a member of the Under 18 and Under 20 squads. In fact, he has skated for his country during the World Championships and the EuroTour.
Currently, Yemelin is a part of the senior national squad, and is known for his left hand shooting.
