Aleksey Morozov
Aleksey Morozov is a Russian right winger on Ak Bars Kazan.
Morozov was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, after scoring 27 points with Krylia Sovetov in his first full season of play in the Russian Super League. He played two more seasons with the club before joining the Penguins in 1997. He scored a goal on his first shot in his first game with the pegnuins and played the next seven seasons with the club, finishing with 84 goals and 219 points. His final season in the NHL, 2003-04, was his best, as he finished with 34 assists and 50 points. He returned to Russia the next year, joining Ak Bars Kazan, and scoring 20 goals in his first year back. He set a career high with 34 goals and 83 points in 2006-07, one year after winning his first Super League championship. He was named team captain in 2007, and led the team to the first Gagarin Cup victory in 2008, a feat he would repeat in 2009.
Morozov has played at a number of international tournaments for Russia, winning bronze medals at the 1996 and 1997 World Juniors, as well as the 2007 World Championships. He won a silver medal at the 1998 Olympics, and was a member of the 2010 Olympic team. He won back-to-back gold medals with Russia at the 2008 and 2009 World Championships.
