Grigori Panin
Grigori Panin is a Russian defenseman on Ak Bars Kazan.
Panin has played in either the Russian Super League or the KHL since 2004, when he debuted with Lada Togliatti after putting up solid numbers with the team's junior club for two seasons. He had 2 points and 50 penalty minutes in his rookie year, and quickly developed into one of the team's toughest players. He set a career high with 11 points and 121 penalty minutes in 2005-06, and spent the next two years with Lada Togliatti before being traded to Ak Bars Kazan in 2008. In 2009, he helped the club win the first ever Gagarin Cup in the initial season of the Kontinental Hockey League, and was the most penalized player in the playoffs with 69 penalty minutes. He would help the team repeat as champions the following season.
Panin won a silver medal with Russia at the 2005 World Juniors.
