Offseason Recap: Calgary Flames
Calgary Flames will be looking to create some better success next season. With one of the top scorers in the league, Jarome Iginla and star keeper Miikka Kiprusoff protected well by the likes of Dion Phaneuf and Robyn Regehr, the Flames should have the chemistry to be a successful team in the Western Conference. While the Flames did make the playoffs last season, they were seeded 7th in the West and lost out to the talented San Jose Sharks.>
The Flames lost forward Kristian Huselius and veteran leader Owen Nolan. Calgary retained the services of 65 point scorer Daymond Langkow and veteran center Craig Conroy, in addition to adding veteran power forward Todd Bertuzzi. The addition of Mike Camallieri and Bertuzzi should be the shot in the arm that Calgary’s offense has been needing.
With Calgary’s physically punishing style of play and their strong defense, the added offense that they picked up in the offseason should be enough to provide success behind the goaltending of Mikka Kiprussoff.
