There were plenty of huge hits this past week, and I think anyone who’s a fan of hard-hitting, old-fashioned hockey will thoroughly enjoy these.
- Rob Scuderi has been a welcome addition to the Los Angeles Kings, after a stellar postseason run in 2009 with the Penguins. Here, he catches Jason Chimera with a textbook hipcheck, sending Chimera head over heels.

- Mike Komisarek made a name for himself in Montreal as a big, hard-hitting defenseman. Saturday night, he was booed numerous times in Montreal as he returned for the first time wearing the colors of the hated Blue and White. This hit on Glen Metropolit won’t make the Canadiens’ fans like him any better, but it should get him a little more support in Toronto.

- Colby Armstrong catches Marc-Andre Bergeron with his head down behind the net and tries to drill him right out of his skates.

- Chris Neil is known as one of the league’s heaviest enforcers and hardest hitters. Dennis Wideman is now a firsthand witness to this fact, after Neil caught him bringing the puck out from behind his own net in the Senators-Bruins game last week.

- There’s no debate about what the biggest hit of the week was, as Willie Mitchell knocked star Chicago center Jonathan Toews out of the game with a punishing open-ice check. Mitchell actually showed some class on this hit. Toews had no idea Mitchell was coming, and Mitchell clearly wasn’t trying to injure the young forward. Toews has yet to skate since, however, as he still suffered a concussion
