England v South Africa 3rd ODI Live and Preview
Article info

South Africa continue to stamp their authority across the different formats of the game as they get ready to square up against England in the third ODI on Friday.

The visitors lead the five-match series 1-0 following their thumping win in the second match.

South Africa achieved the feat of becoming the first side to be ranked in all three formats of the game as they beat England by 80 runs.

Following the exploits in the test series, the Proteas were up to the mark in the ODI as well with Hashim Amla continuing his mercurial form further.

Amla scored his career-best 150 which is also the highest score by a South African batsman against England.

Captain AB de Villiers promised to inflict more misery on their rivals as South Africa remain upbeat about maintaining their intensity levels high.

Graeme Smith scored a half-century and the opening combination will be a threat to the opposition while the bowlers will also look to play their part.

England have had a wretched second half this summer as they have stumbled from one problem to another. Off the field controversies have not helped either.

Alastair Cook, the captain, had his unbeaten streak interrupted with the defeat in the last match. Cook, who has also been elevated to test captaincy, will look to address the team’s problems in their meeting.

One change to the squad has been made with Graeme Swann not playing any further part in the one-dayers owing to his troublesome elbow.

Swann, despite picking up two wickets in the last match, has endured a modest past few months and James Tredwell has been brought in his place.

England will be looking to focus on building partnerships as several of their batsmen were guilty of getting out after getting a good start.

The day/night fixture starts at 1pm at The Oval.
