Alastair Cook is a left handed batsman and right arm slow bowler who plays for England cricket team. The other teams he has played for are Marylebone Cricket Club, Essex, England Under-19s and Bedfordshire.
From 1st March to 5th March 2006, India and England played in a Test match at Nagpur and this was the debut Test for Cook. In the 1st innings, he batted at the No. 2 position and scored 60 runs in 160 balls. He took 1 catch. In the 2nd innings, he remained unbeaten on 104 after facing 243 balls. The result of this match was a draw. Cook debuted in One day Internationals on 28th June 2006 at Manchester against Sri Lanka. In this match, he faced 38 balls at the No. 2 spot and scored 39 runs. Sri Lanka won this match by 33 runs.
Cook has appeared in 34 Test matches in which he has scored 2573 runs at a strike rate of 46.29 and batting average of 42.88. 127 was his highest score and he took 33 catches. He hit 1 sixer, 307 boundaries, 14 fifties and 7 centuries. In the 23 One day Internationals that he played, he scored 702 runs with 102 as his highest score. His batting average was 30.52 and strike rate was 68.15. He hit 1 hundred, 3 half centuries, 77 fours and took 7 catches.
