Sri Lanka v India 3rd ODI Live and Preview
Article info

India will look to take lead in the five-match series against Sri Lanka when the two teams meet in the third ODI of the five-match series at Colombo.

There is little to choose between Sri Lanka and India if you look at their extended run in the past couple of years. Such has been the story so far in the series as well that is currently level at 1-1 with the third ODI to be played on Saturday in Colombo.

Sri Lanka bounced back to level the series in grand style as they brushed aside India by nine wickets with more than 30 overs to spare.

Whether they will be able to continue the domination is a completely separate debate altogether, with the island nation often being guilty of inconsistency against top sides.

Yet they have a side that is capable of outdoing their opponents. In Thisara Perera and Angelo Mathews, the team has two all-rounders that provide depth as well as balance to the team composition.

Both starred with the ball on Tuesday, picking up three wickets apiece with their nagging medium pacers.

Lasith Malinga also picked up two wickets while Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga will be expected to continue their good run after firing half centuries.

India did not look even a shade of the side that they have been in the one-dayers leading up to the match.

Their batting crumbled badly to be shot out for 138 but captain MS Dhoni is confident such a capitulation won’t be repeated as he blamed the pitch in Hambantota.

Yet some of the dismissals were very soft in nature and the batsmen will have to do better than their efforts earlier.

One roaring debate has been over continued selection of the misfiring Rohit Sharma. While Dhoni refused to divulge more information, it is rumored that Manoj Tiwary may finally get a game.

Tiwary has featured in six ODIs spread across five different series.

The day-night match will be played in Colombo starting at 2pm local time.
