Bob Arum is looking forward to the Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto fight on November 14, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The top rank boxing promoter considers both as the world’s finest boxers, and having both in one ring, face-to-face will definitely give quality entertainment to fans and spectators.
“The significance of this fight is if you know the body of work of these two fighters,” Arum said. “When these guys get into the ring, there will be a confrontation. People who watch know they’ll be entertained. This will sort of be an edge-of-your-seat kind of a fight. It’s an all-action, all-out battle where guys are going to demonstrate toughness, courage and resilience.”
Arum also believes that having Cotto in this fight will bring in more viewers through HBO Pay Per View since like Filipinos, there are also many Puerto Ricans in the United States. Though the Pacquiao-Hatton fight did well with regard to ticket sales at the MGM Grand Garden, he is confident that the Pacquiao-Cotto pay per view sales will go beyond that what is expected.
“With all due respect to Ricky, I think Cotto, as a great Puerto Rican star, brings a larger fan base in the U.S. audience,” Arum said. “I really think we’ll be able to do north of 850,000 with this one.”
