Philip Bond

Phillip Bond is an American former professional basketball player who briefly played in the National Basketball Association. He played a few games for the Houston Rockets.

Player Profile and Personal Life

Phillip Damone Bond was born on July 27, 1954, in Paducah, Kentucky. He stands 188 cm tall and his weight was last listed at 79 kg. He shot right and played point guard throughout his career.

His son, Jordan Bond, was a walk-on member of the University of Louisville's 2013 NCAA Championship team.

After his basketball career, Bond joined Metro United Way in Louisville, Kentucky in 1983, where he currently serves as the chief financial officer.

High School and College Career

Bond attended duPont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky, where he graduated third in his class of 312 in 1972.

He then played college basketball at the University of Louisville from 1973 to 1977. In 1975, he led the team to the Final Four and was named Most Valuable Player in the NCAA Midwest Region Tournament.

He earned All-American honors in 1976 and was also selected as an Academic All-American. He broke Jim Price's assist record, which stood for 14 years, and held the school's single-game assist record for 26 years.

Professional Career

Selected 62nd overall by the Houston Rockets in the 1977 NBA Draft, Bond played seven games for the team during the 1977-78 season.
