Jack Burmaster

Jack Burmaster was an American professional basketball player and coach. He played briefly in the National Basketball Association. He then went on to coach high school basketball.

John Hagelou "Jack" Burmaster was born on December 23, 1926, in Elgin, Illinois, United States of America. He stood 191 cm tall and his playing weight was listed at 86 kg. Burmaster played as a guard.

He died on September 27, 2005, at 78 years old in Glenview, Illinois.

High School and College Career

Burmaster attended Elgin High School in Elgin, Illinois. He then played college basketball for the University of Illinois from 1944 to 1948.

Professional Career

After college, Burmaster began his professional career with the Oshkosh All-Stars of the National Basketball League during the 1948–49 season. When the NBL merged with the Basketball Association of America to form the NBA in 1949, Burmaster joined the Sheboygan Red Skins.

Coaching Career

After his playing career, Burmaster transitioned to coaching. He spent one season as head coach at duPont Manual High School in Louisville, Kentucky, leading the team to a runner-up finish in the state championship.

From 1952 to 1975, Burmaster was the head basketball coach at Evanston Township High School in Evanston, Illinois.
