Earl Joseph Watson Jr. is a former professional basketball player from the United States of America who played as a point guard. Watson attended the Washington High School and in his senior year, was averaging 23.4 points per game with 8.3 assists and 13.2 rebounds per game.
Watson went on to attend UCLA and played with Baron Davis to become the only two freshmen to start for the team since 1979. In all four years, Watson started for UCLA in all games he played, also setting the record for the most number of consecutive starts for the team in the history of the school. He also recorded the highest number of steals for the college.
In the 2001 NBA Draft, Watson was picked at 39th overall by the Seattle Supersonics. After a number of years making up the numbers in the Supersonics, Watson began establishing himself as a first team player and by the 2007-08 season, he had 10.7 points per game with 6.8 assists per game. In February 2008, Watson scored his first triple-double against the Sacramento Kings with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the game. It was almost 4 years after the last triple-double scored by a Supersonics player, Ray Allen.
