Elias Ayuso has played with Santurce Crabbers, Quebradillas Pirates, San German Athletics and Arecibo Captains in the National Superior Basketball League of Puerto Rico (BSN) and the NCAA. He plays in the position of shooting guard. He is 6 feet 3.75 inches tall and 205 lbs in weight.
On 7th November 2008, the Iowa Energy of the NBA Development League drafted him with the 2nd pick in the 2nd round as the 18th overall pick. In 2007, he became a member of Santurce Crabbers of the BSN and later on shifted to the Puerto Rico national basketball team.
Ayuso attained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from the University of Southern California. In 2002, he led the BSN in scoring and had 703 points and an average of 24.2 points per game. During the 2004 Olympics, Puerto Rico beat team USA and Ayuso was a member of this squad.
Arecibo Captains was assisted by Ayuso in defeating Bayamon Cowboys in 4 games at the BSN finals in 2005. During the 2006 FIBA World Championship, he finished with 21.2 points per game and overall 106 points. Additionally, he had a 3-point field goal percentage of 0.629.
Elias Ayuso has been honored as the Greek League Most Valuable Player in 2003 and BSN Final Most Valuable Player in 2007.
