Sofoklis Schortsanitis
Sofoklis Schortsanitis was born to a Greek father and Cameroonian mother. He is a member of the Greek national basketball team and plays in the Euroleague as well as the Olympiacos in the Greek League.
He was the Greek League All Star Game Most Valuable Player in 2006. In 2005, 2006 and 2007, he was the Greek League All Star. He won the Italian Supercup in 2003.
From 2000 to 2003, he was a member of Iraklis Thessaloniki. During the 2003-04 season, he played for Pallacanestro Cantu and during the 2004-05 season for Aris Thessaloniki.
He succeeded in scoring many impressive dunks against Team USA led by Mike Krzyzewski and China’s national basketball team during the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan. Greece defeated Team USA by 101-95.
Schortsanitis has a height of 6 feet 10 inches and weight of 375 lbs. He plays in the position of Center.
Career Highlights
Schortsanitis won the Silver Medal for Greece in the 2006 Japan FIBA World Championships. He also won 2 Bronze Medals – in 2001 at the FIBA Under 18 World Championship and in 2002 FIBA Europe Under 18 Championship. In 2001 at the FIBA Europe Under 16 Championship, he was in the All First Team Selection.
