Selected 37th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2005 NBA Draft, Turiaf began his professional career with the Yakima Sun Kings (2005-2006) before joining the Lakers for two seasons (2006-2008).He then played for the Golden State Warriors (2008-2010) and New York Knicks (2010-2011) before a brief stint in France with ASVEL in 2011. He returned to the NBA with the Washington Wizards (2011-2012) before joining the Miami Heat, where he won an NBA championship in 2012.
His final years in the NBA were spent with the Los Angeles Clippers (2012-2013) and Minnesota Timberwolves (2013-2014). After his playing career, he was inducted into the French Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
