Bonham attended Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Indiana, where he was named Indiana Mr. Basketball and a First-team Parade All-American in 1960.He then played college basketball for the University of Cincinnati from 1961 to 1964.
At Cincinnati, Bonham won an NCAA championship in 1962 and was named a Consensus first-team All-American in 1963 and a Consensus second-team All-American in 1964.
Professional Career
Bonham was selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round (16th overall) of the 1964 NBA Draft.He played two seasons with the Celtics from 1964 to 1966, winning NBA Championships in both years.
After a year away from professional basketball, Bonham joined the Indiana Pacers of the ABA for the 1967-1968 season, which would be his final year as a professional player.
Post-Basketball Career
Following his basketball career, Bonham served as the City of Muncie assistant parks superintendent and chief caretaker of Prairie Creek Park in Indiana for 38 years until 2011.He also served three terms as a Delaware County, Indiana Commissioner.
