Sergio Rodriguez was a member of the Spain national basketball team. In 2004, he was the FIBA Europe Under 18 Championship Most Valuable Player. He won the Gold Medal at the FIBA Europe Under 18 Championship 2004. In his professional career, he was the ACB Rising Star Award in 2005. He played 8 games in the 2004 FIBA Europe Under 18 Championship and finished with statistics of 19 points per game, 2.1 steals per game, 8.5 assists per game and 4.6 rebounds per game.
During the 2006 NBA draft, he was chosen as the 27th pick in the 1st round by the Phoenix Suns. In his NBA career, he played in 219 games and out of these started 14.
