Aaron McKie is a former American professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association. He is best known for his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2001.

Professional Career

McKie was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 17th overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. He played his first three NBA seasons with Portland before being traded to the Detroit Pistons during the 1996-97 season.

In December 1997, McKie was traded to his hometown Philadelphia 76ers. He spent eight seasons with the Sixers, primarily coming off the bench. His best season came in 2000-01 when he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award. McKie played a crucial role in helping the 76ers reach the 2001 NBA Finals.

McKie finished his playing career with two seasons on the Los Angeles Lakers from 2005 to 2007.

Post-Playing Career

After retiring as a player, McKie transitioned into coaching.

He served as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers from 2008 to 2013. In 2014, he joined the coaching staff at his alma mater, Temple University. McKie became the head coach of Temple's men's basketball team in 2019.
