Sandora Irvin is a former professional basketball player from the United States, known for making her mark as a small forward in the WNBA. Born on February 23, 1982, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, she boasts a family connection to sports excellence, being the niece of NFL legend Michael Irvin.
Career
Sandora's basketball journey began at Texas Christian University (TCU), where she showcased her talent and determination. As a senior, she made waves by averaging an impressive 19.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Her dominance in the paint led her to set the NCAA career record for blocked shots with a staggering 480, surpassing the previous mark firmly. Sandora’s exceptional performance earned her numerous accolades, including selections to the AP All-America first team and Kodak All-American status, alongside being named the Conference USA Player of the Year.In 2005, she was selected as the third overall pick in the WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury, marking the beginning of her professional career. She played for the Mercury for two seasons, although her rookie year saw limited action with 12 appearances. In 2007, Sandora was traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars, where she continued to contribute, appearing in 23 games during the 2007 season.
