Rebekkah Brunson is a professional American basketball player in the WNBA. She is the current WNBA All-Time rebounding leader and a five-time WNBA champion. Brunson is presently playing in the power forward position for the Minnesota Lynx.
Brunson is a professional basketball player who plays as forward for the Minnesota Lynx of WNBA. She was born in Washington, DC on December 11, 1981. Brunson attended Oxon Hill High School in Maryland.
Brunson attended Georgetown University, and played basketball for the Hoyas from 2000-2004. She was the Hoyas’ all-time leading rebounder, and set the single season rebound record with 336 in 2004.
She ranks first and second in blocked shots for a single season at Georgetown (51 in 2003, 50 in 2004. She also garnered a host of accolades throughout her career.
The Sacramento Monarchs chose her in the 1st round of the 2004 WNBA Draft, as the tenth overall pick. Brunson established and even manages the 32 Foundation, sponsoring academic and athletic chances for youth in the metropolitan DC area
During the 2005 Season, Brunson helped the team attain their WNBA championship. For the 2007 Season, she dominated the league in total offensive rebounds and offensive rebounds per game. In the dispersal draft, the Minnesota Lynx signed Brunson.
Brunson was the franchise leader in field goal percentage and rebounds. She was named into the All-Defensive First Team. The team would also go on to snatch the WNBA championship in 2011. The Lynx would win the championship title again in 2013.
She continued to be instrumental to the team’s victories as they took the 2015 WNBA championship. In 2017, she became the all-time leader in career offensive rebounds in the WNBA and the first player in to win five championships in the league. Brunson was unable to play in the 2018 playoffs due to injury.
