The first day of the Orlando Summer League belonged to Michael Beasley. He put up a brilliant performance while playing against [Chicago Bulls] and the No.1 overall pick Derrick Rose. In 22 minutes he scored 28 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and a block.
The final score of this game was 94-70 and this game was dominated by the Heat although Chicago started Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah and Rose who are regarded as starters and heavy rotation guys.
The Most Valuable Player of the D-league Kasib Powell scored 15 and the Bulls were led by Demetris Nichols and Keith Langford. Beasley worked his driving abilities, post-work, long-range and mid-range and consequently his game was in complete effect.
Russell Westbrook made his debut for Oklahoma during the first game of the day with 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 18 points. Although Jeff Green put on 21 points the Indiana Pacers team was triumphant behind Earl Calloway’s 7 assists, 16 points and Andre Emmett’s 15. The star of this game was Westbrook as he directed the offense and exhibited both restraint and aggressiveness when it was asked as well as in 30 minutes collected only 1 turnover which is remarkable for a rookie point guard.
