Wednesday, June 18, 2008 – There were three late games in the WNBA today.
The Washington Mystics beat the Houston Comets 67-63.
Alana Beard was top scorer for the Mystics with 23 points. For the Comets, Maiga-Ba led the was with 15 points.
The Phoenix Mercury defeated the Connecticut Sun 102-81.
The Mercury shocked the Sun, and probably their own fans, with a 21 point win. The defending champions have had an abysmal season to date, and this was an important win that will perhaps get them on the right track.
Diana Taurasi scored 32 points for the Mercury. Asjha Jones scored 18 points for Connecticut.
The Los Angeles Sparks beat the Chicago Sky 80-67.
Lisa Leslie led the way for the Los Angeles Sparks in tonight’s game, scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Rookie Candace Parker had 14 points of her own. This was the Sparks’ fourth straight win.
For the Sky, Jia Perkins scored 18 points, Candice Dupree had 14, and Armintie Price gave her team 10.
