The Sunshine State is now a basketball state. With 2 of the better teams in the NBA residing in Florida, college football may take a backseat to the budding rivalry between the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat. During the summer of 2010, Miami built a super team by signing 3 of the best players in the game to free agent contracts, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh.
All of a sudden, Miami are true championship contenders, and all of the title talk is upsetting the Orlando Magic, who have been championship worthy for several years now.
Both Magic coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith have taken verbal jabs at the Heat this summer, directed at Miami general manager Pat Riley.
Dwight Howard is sick of all the talk about the Heat. Howard will play this season with a more serious attitude, which means less smiling and more focus.
GM Otis Smith has long told Dwight he needs to take games more seriously, and after 2 painful playoff exits the past 2 seasons, Dwight appears locked in to help the Magic attain their first ever NBA championship.
