Celtics all star guard Ray Allen’s struggles this year have been talked about all over Boston. As the trading deadline grew near, it seemed Allen might be dealt to bring back a younger and quicker player to Boston.
However, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge chose not to trade his aging superstar. He decided instead to make some smaller moves.
Ainge acquired Nate Robinson from the New York Knicks in exchange for Bill Walker, Eddie House and JR Giddens. Michael Finley was signed to the team in early March to give leadership and veteran savvy.
After the deadline, the Celtics played the Lakers in Los Angeles. In the Celtics’ previous meeting with the Lakers, Allen had shot poorly from the field. But in LA, Allen was spectacular, and shot very well.
Since deadline day Ray Allen’s 3-pt shooting has been much better. He does not have to worry about being traded. He can just focus on playing good basketball.
For a shooter like Ray, confidence, and consistency is key. Now that Boston is still his home, Ray is as comfortable as ever heading toward the playoffs.
