LeBron wants to play for a different number

Cleveland Cavaliers’ star player James LeBron has filed paperwork for a different number and would be seen playing with a new number on his back starting from next season.

Cleveland Cavaliers’ star player James LeBron has filed paperwork for a different number and would be seen playing with a new number on his back starting from next season. The Cavaliers are expecting that the logo displayed at the front of his jersey will remain unchanged.

LeBron is currently playing with the number 6 jersey but now wants to change it to number 23. Earlier this season, LeBron was willing to let go of the No. 23 in hopes of allowing it to retire to honor Michael Jordan. However he has filed the required paperwork for the transfer, as confirmed by the league.

LeBron signed up with the league as a free agent this summer and would be requiring only the league’s approval for the change. Mike Brown, the Cavaliers’ coach said, “All it does is back up LeBron’s beliefs. He’s a loyalty guy. When he believes in something, he sticks to his guns and he believes wholeheartedly in what he’s doing.”

Stars are known to change their jersey number mid-season from Jordan to Kobe Bryant who recently shifted from number 8 to number 24. LeBron wears his number 6 jersey ever since he wore it at the U.S. Olympics, even to his practice sessions.
