The Boston Celtics opportunity for winning a title is closing. Their best players are in their thirties, and their best young player, point guard Rajon Rondo will want major money when his contract is up soon.
The Celtics know their window is slim. But they still have two or three great years left. Make know mistake, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rasheed Wallace are still very hungry. They know that one championship does not get you much recognition in the media guide.
The addition of Wallace from Detroit and shooting guard Marquis Daniels from Indiana make the Celtics the deepest team in the NBA. They have great options at all positions, and have bench players that could start on a lot of teams.
If Danny Ainge can acquire another veteran near the trade deadline next February, no one will beat the Celtics if their major stars are all healthy. They all have played in big games, and are ready for whatever challenge that meets them. It’s now or never. The Celtics roster in 2012 will probably look significantly different than the 2010 roster.
