Previous year of the Suns
During the past one year, the Phoenix Suns have been a topic of discussion and most of the talk pertaining to this team has not been very good. These discussions began when Shawn Marion was removed and Shaquille O’Neal was received. After the acceptance of O’Neal, the Suns sacked coach Mike D’Antoni. The new coach, Terry Porter decelerated the offense and the overall result was that the game of the Suns appeared less effective and boring. Further, the team got rid of Boris Diaw and Raja Bell and accepted Jason Richardson. After hosting the All-Star game recently, the Suns fired Porter and appointed Alvin Gentry in his place. All the above mentioned events appeared less crucial than the trade rumors of Amare Stoudemire that have been the buzz in the recent past.
Due to these constant alterations, the Suns has become an inconsistent squad that has an unimpressive record of 28-23. The boys are just not having any fun. The Suns would not have been in the playoffs if the season would have ended on this record. The miseries of this team have increased as Richardson was arrested for careless driving and has a suspension for 1 game.
The remedy
To overcome the situation and recover their original form, Gentry must make it a point to permit the Suns to revert to their technique of running and gunning. At the same time, they can afford to skip their defense. Although, this plan appears to be an exaggeration, it needs to be understood that this team was made for a lot of offense.
