In the recent past, Bryant won the gold medal in the Beijing Olympics in China and due to this achievement his jersey holds the No. 1 rank in sales in the nation. For the MVP award, LeBron James was a very eligible player. His statistics were very impressive and he had an unbelievable versatility. However, the credit of winning the award is Bryant’s and Bryant’s alone.

Let us hide the statistics of this season for a while. It is obvious that in each game, each quarter and each possession, Bryant is trying hard to reach a level of greatness and he has realized that in order to attain this, he must be able to raise the level of all of his teammates. Due to such an ideology in mind, his play has become selfless. He tries to involve everybody in the game. He distributes responsibilities, trusts those who have been given them and serves as a source of inspiration. For him, moving with the ball in his hands is as important as setting a positive illustration of defense.

In the past, Bryant was the quickest player in the NBA to reach 20,000 points. On 7th December 2008, he was only 15 points short of crossing the 22,000 mark quicker than Wilt Chamberlain had done in the past. However, the unselfish Bryant did not even think about this and had no aim of overcoming Chamberlain. So, during the fourth quarter when the result of the game became clear, Bryant sat for the whole time cheering the reserves.
