Josh Thole
Josh Thole is a professional baseball player from the United States of America and plays as a catcher. Thole’s baseball career began inside a barn, where he would play with his brothers. He went on to attend Mater Dei High School and directly out of school, decided to declare for the MLB Draft.
At the 2005 MLB Draft, Thole was picked in the 13th round by the New York Mets.
He went on to make his debut in the Rookie League with the Gulf Coast Mets before moving on to the Kingsport Mets to play in the Appalachian Rookie League. In 2007, Thole began playing with the Savannah Sand Gnats, playing 117 games at an average of .267 with 36 RBI. For the Sand Gnats, Thole played solely on first base, a change from his first base-catcher combination until the previous season.
He moved to the Advanced A-League in 2008, playing for the St. Lucie Mets as a catcher. His batting average rose to .300 as he hit 5 homers and 56 RBI through the season. That meant that 2009 would begin in the AA-League, playing for the Binghampton Mets.
After recording a .328 batting average over 348 at-bats for the Binghampton Mets, Thole had truly announced his arrival and the New York Mets took notice as well. They called him up for 17 games in the 2009 season, giving him 53 at-bats. Thole was hitting at an average of .321 and had 9 RBI to his name. This performance got him a call to the 2010 Spring Training session and he was also named to the 2010 MLB roster.
