Armando David Zerpa is a professional baseball player from Venezuela who plays as a pitcher. Zerpa was signed as an undrafted free agent, by the Boston Red Sox, in 2007. Placed into the farm system in the Red Sox organization, Zerpa quickly rose through the ranks primarily due to his prior playing experience in Venezuelan leagues.
At the end of the 2009 season Zerpa became eligible for a Rule V Draft and was picked by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Zerpa was immediately sold to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash; the Dodgers decided that he was good enough for the 40-man roster and in 2010, would be a part of the long pitching lineup at the MLB team.
