Joshua Roenicke is a professional baseball player from the USA and specializes as a relief pitcher for his side. The son of Gary Roenicke, Joshua was picked by the Cincinnati Reds in the 10th round of the 2006 MLB Draft after he graduated out of UCLA. Although at UCLA, Roenicke played as an outfielder as well as a pitcher, his Major League career started as a pitcher with the low A-League side, the Gulf Coast Reds.
Soon he was promoted to the Billings Mustangs in the rookie league and spent the rest of 2006 at that level. In 2007, he was bumped up to the high A-League with the Sarasota Reds and his rapid ascent continued with a move to the Chattanooga Lookouts. With the Lookouts and the Sarasota Reds, Roenicke had compiled a 3-2 win-loss record with 56 strikeouts and 24 saves at an ERA of 2.31.
In 2008, after just 22 games with the Lookouts, Roenicke was on his way to the Louisville Bats and in his 35 games at the club, he had a 2.54 ERA. This prompted a September move to the Reds’ MLB roster.
Roenicke’s debut was far from perfect as he walked one batsman, struck out another and hit one too, before being pulled out.
