Daryl Thompson
Daryl M. Thompson is a professional American baseball p[layer who plays as a pitcher. Thompson was picked by the Montreal Expos in the 2003 MLB Draft. He languished in the minor leagues without much sign or scope of breaking through into the top league and so, the Expos decided to trade him out to the Washington Nationals. The Reds sent Austin Kearns, Felipe Lopez and Ryan Wagner to the Nationals in 2006 and took on Bill Bray, Royce Clayton, Brendan Harris, Gary Majewski and Daryl Thompson in return.
Thompson's performance in the minor leagues for the Reds was stupendous. He rose almost immediately through the ranks and with an ERA of 2.22, won 3 out of the 4 games that he started. In 2008, he was called up to the MLB roster to replace an out of synch Homer Bailey. The very next day, he made his first start against the New York Yankees. In 5 innings, Thompson gave away no runs and struck out two while accumulating just 4 hits and 4 walks on debut.
