Alberto José Callaspo was born on April 19, 1983 in Maracay, Venezuela. He is a utility infielder for the Kansas City Royals.

Minor Leagues On February 16, 2001, Alberto was signed by the Anaheim Angels as an amateur free agent.

On February 28, 2006 the Angels traded him to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Jason Bulger.

Major Leagues Alberto made his major league debut for the Diamondbacks on August 6, 2006.

On December 14, 2007, the Diamondbacks traded him to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for pitcher Billy Buckner.
