Matt Joyce
Matt Joyce is a seasoned professional baseball player hailing from the United States, prominently known for his role as a right fielder. Born on August 3, 1984, in Riverview, Florida, Joyce has made a name for himself in Major League Baseball (MLB), most recently with the Detroit Tigers.
Career
Joyce's journey began at Florida Southern College, where he showcased his talent and helped his team secure its ninth Division II national championship in 2005. He entered professional baseball when the Detroit Tigers selected him in the 12th round of the 2005 amateur draft. Joyce kicked off his career with the single-A Oneonta Tigers, posting an impressive batting average of .332 in his debut season.As he climbed the ranks, Joyce played for several teams in the Tigers' minor league system. In 2006, he was promoted to the single-A West Michigan Whitecaps, where he recorded 11 home runs and 86 RBIs while hitting .258. The following year saw him move up to the AA Erie SeaWolves, further honing his skills. Joyce's persistence paid off when he received a non-roster invite to the Tigers' spring training in 2008. Though he started the season with the AAA Toledo Mud Hens, he made his MLB debut on May 5, 2008, stepping in for Jacque Jones.
