*Dane K. A. A. Sardinha’ was born on April 8, 1979 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a catcher for the Detroit Tigers.High SchoolDane attended Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu.CollegeAlthough the Kansas City Royals drafted Dane in the 2nd round (59th overall) of the 1997 draft, he didn’t sign with them, and elected to attended Pepperdine University. *Minor Leagues’In 2000, Dane was selected b the Cincinnati Reds, as a 2nd round draft pick (46th overall).

Dane has spent most of his time in the minor leagues, as he has never been able to bat very well.

Major LeaguesDane spent a bit of 2003 and 2005 on the Cincinatti Reds roster. When he was released by them he was picked up by the Detroit Tigers, and played in their farm system.

When Ivan Rodriguez was traded to the New York Yankees on July 30, 2008, Dane was called back up from the minors.

PersonalDane has two younger brothers. Duke is an infielder in the Colorado Rockies organization and Bronson, is an outfielder in the Cleveland Indians organization.
