Ashley Harkleroad

Ashley Harkleroad is a former professional American tennis player who achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 39. She won a total of 13 singles and doubles titles on the ITF Tour and reached the third round of two major tournaments.

Ashley Harkleroad Adams was born on May 2, 1985, in Rossville, Georgia, United States. She stands 165 cm tall, and she plays right-handed with a two-handed backhand. She began playing tennis at the age of four and was given the nickname "Pebbles."

Harkleroad's parents are Danny, who works in the printing industry, and Tammy, a school teacher who played college tennis. She married ATP pro Alex Bogomolov, Jr. in 2004, and they divorced in 2006. She later married Chuck Adams, a former ATP pro and one of her coaches. They have a son, born in March 2009, and a daughter, born in April 2011.

Professional Career

Harkleroad turned professional in 2000. She achieved her career-high singles ranking of World No. 39 in June 2003. Her best Grand Slam singles result was reaching the third round of the Australian Open in 2007 and the French Open in 2003.

In doubles, she was also very successful, winning six WTA doubles titles and five ITF doubles titles. She reached a career-high doubles ranking of No. 39 in January 2007. Her best Grand Slam doubles result was reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 2007 and the French Open in 2008. In mixed doubles, her best result was a quarterfinal appearance at the US Open in 2007.

Harkleroad retired from professional tennis in 2012.
