Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley is an American mixed martial artist known for his explosiveness, speed, power and impressive wrestling skills. He is a former amateur wrestler from the University of Missouri and is currently signed under the UFC after spending some time fighting at Strike Force. He belongs to the top 10 athletes in the UFC welterweight rankings.Woodley was born on April 17, 1982 and played football and wrestling during his time in high school. He later on became the head wrestling coach in Nebraska a few years after graduating in high school. He decided to take college at Mizzou where he graduated with a major in Agricultural Economics. He is a well-known friend and team mate of MMA fighter and former Olympian Ben Askren.He collected an undefeated 7 win during his time in amateur MMA. His first two professional fights in 2009 against Steve Schnider and Jeff Carstens consecutively, winning both fights.

He also fought in the Strikeforce and won 8 consecutive fights before losing to Nate Marquardt at the Strikeforce - Rockhold vs Kennedy via a KO back in 2012. He signed with the UFC afterwards in 2013.In his seven fights in the UFC, he lost twice both via a unanimous decision against Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald at the UFC 161 and the UFC 174 respectively. However, his debut fight in the UFC was a KO win against Jay Hieron at the UFC 156 featuring Aldo vs. Edgar.

He currently has a record of 18 fights with 15 wins and 3 losses, 1 of which is via KO and 2 via decision.
