Clean the Line/Clip the Line

In tennis, "Cleaning the Line" or "Clipping the Line" refers to a shot that lands exactly on a court line.

The ball touches the line, making it a legal in-bounds shot. These shots are considered good even if only a tiny part touches the line.

Line-clipping shots are often close calls and can be challenging for players and officials. They sometimes lead to challenges using the Hawk-Eye system in professional matches.
