Block

In tennis, a Block is a defensive shot with minimal backswing and a shortened motion.

Players use it to return powerful serves or groundstrokes from opponents. The block redirects the ball's speed and spins back across the net. It's often used when there's little time to prepare for a full swing.

Blocks are typically hit close to the body with a firm wrist. Blocks can be hit from both the forehand and backhand sides.
