Peter Luczak

Born on August 31, 1979, Peter Luczak is an Australian player who was born in Poland but moved with his family to Australia in 1980. He started playing tennis at the age of 5 under the influence of his father. However, he was not successful in the junior levels and did not receive any funding from Tennis Australia or any other major sponsor. He did manage to get a scholarship to Fresno State University where he improved his playing skills while earning his degree in finance. While in university, Luczak earned the title of having the most number of career singles won, holding a record of 27-0 before his upset in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

He made his pro debut in 2000 and played in the Futures and Challengers tournaments. He made it to the finals in Clearwater, losing to Dmitry Tursunov. He finished 2000 ranked at 280.

He played exclusively in the Challengers in 2002 and won his first title in Granby. He followed this up by making his Grand Slam debut in the Australian Open, reaching the third round before falling to Mario Ancic. He won two more Challengers at the start of 2004, first in Canberra and Kosice. He played on his first Davis Cup for Australia in 2005, facing off the Argentine player Guillermo Coria.

He finished the year in 2007 inside the top ten. His most recent events included matches against Rafael Nadal in the first round of the 2010 Australian Open and reached the QF of the 2010 Moviestar Open.
