Alexa Glatch is a professional American tennis player who was born on September 10, 1989 in Newport Beach, California where she is also currently residing. She started playing tennis at the age of 5. In her junior years in tennis, she won the Easter Bowl title in the Girls 14 and 16 divisions and then in 2004, she also won the International Orange Bowl in Girls 16 division. By the following year, in 2005, she became the World No. 5 Junior tennis player after she reached the U.S. Open Junior finals in the singles and doubles category.
By 2005, Glatch started playing professionals tennis and appeared at the Forest Hills Tennis Classic where she reached the semifinals. In that same year, she also participated in the U.S. Open. Then an unfortunate accident happened to her where she broke her right wrist and left elbow. She returned to the court after 8 months of recovery.
When she was all prepared to compete by 2006, she won a single and double title on the ITF Circuit. By 2007, she and playing partner Sorana Cîrstea of Romania were finalists at the French Open Grand Slam Junior Doubles. In 2008, she competed again in the U.S. Open but was not able to take home the title.
Then in 2009, she competed in several Grand Slam tournaments. She was at Wimbledon only made it through round 1, and then at the French Open where she defeated Flavia Pennetta in the first round. She also defeated Serena Williams in the first round at the 2009 U.S. Open. This is by far the highest win in her career.
This 19-year-old fit player gets her tennis inspiration from Steffi Graf and Roger Federer. In her home in Newport Beach, she can be found surfing and skim boarding at the beach.
