Jaroslav Drobny was a Czech, male tennis player. He debuted at Wimbeldon in 1938 at 16years of age. Back then, nobody paid attention to him. He was just a young Czech kid who lost during a first round to an Argentine player. He won a couple of round during the 1939 games, but he then he was not heard of for a while because of World War II. He would later comment on how he and his family were simply trying to stay alive in a war torn Czechoslovakia. Nonetheless, he was luckier than most young men in his age range were. He avoided forced labor and was able to play sports throughout the war.

After the war, Drobny took tennis seriously again and fashioned for himself an impressive career that consisted of multiple wins including Wimbledon and French Open Singles titles. He also won a doubles title in the French Open 1948. Aside from his wins, he has placed as finalists in several games including a Singles finalist finish in Wimbledon 1949 and 1952. He also finished as a singles finalist in the 1946, 1948 and the 1950 French Open. He was also a doubles finalist in the 1950 Australian Open.

Aside from tennis, Drobny was also an accomplished Ice Hockey player. He was even good enough to land a spot in the Czech Olympic Ice Hockey Team. He and his teammates took home to silver during the 1948 games. For a time, Dronby was a two-sport player. He focused on tennis almost the entire year and spent his winters playing hockey.

Drobny is known for wearing dark prescription sunglasses when he played tennis - a consequence of an injury he obtained from playing hockey. His fortune in the European Tennis scene did not carry to the US Open. He failed to win the titles and lost to fellow tennis champions. Drobny was inducted to the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Rhode Island in 1983.

Comfort beats everything. See my avatar. I wear Oakly Flak Jackets with transition lenses. Most comfortable glasses I've ever owned. Been wearing them for about 5 years now.
