Diego Junqueira
Diego is a left-handed professional tennis player who was born on December 28, 1980. Diego is another one of the tennis players that Argentina can boast of. Though Diego has not made quite a record in the ATP Tour, he has made quite a number of accomplishments and victories in the Challengers circuit.
Diego turned professional in the year 2001. From his first year as a professional to the year 2007, the highest ranking he has ever achieved was number 146 and this took place on June 2006. Diego is an active player on the ATP Tour.
This year in 2008, Diego has been busy playing in different challengers. He has also jumped to the number 90th ranking. In May, he won a Challenger that was held in Italy by beating Dick Norman ranked number 206, Harel Levy ranked number 162, Santiago Ventura ranked number 97, Nicolas Devilder ranked number 153 and Maximo Gonzalez ranked number 149. When Diego was able to beat number 102 Luis Horna in the qualifying round, he was able to make the main draw of the 2008 French Open.
Among the Challengers that Diego managed to win includes the Como Challenger on August 26, the Rimini Challenger on July 15 and the San Remo Challenger on May 13.
In 2008, Diego has had a 1-2 ATP record which was all played on clay courts. His performance in the 2008 French Open could have been better. He won in the first round against Adrian Mannarino but lost in the second round to Ivan Ljubicic. Also in the same year, Diego participated in the BCR Open Romania and won in the first round against Jose Acasuso.
