Galina Voskoboeva, a professional tennis player from Russia, turned professional in 2002. Her devotion for the sport began when she was just six years of age. Her mother, a swimming coached, introduced her to the game of tennis and from then on she hasn’t stopped playing the game. She continued playing the sport until she became a professional tennis player.
Galina’s career high singles ranking was at number 84 and that was on August 28, 2006. Reaching this ranking was an achievement for Galina. At the end of her first season as a professional in tennis, she was ranked at number 402. However, after quite a performance, Galina jumped from rank 402 to rank 157 at the end of 2003. From 2004 to 2005, Galina was racing to reach the top 100 ranking but it was only in the year 2006 that Galina made the achievement of reaching the top 100. Her career high doubles ranking was at number 31 in January 2007.
Galina’s greatest moment in tennis happened just recently in the 2008 Qatar Total Open held in Doha. Here, Galina was able to defeat Eleni Daniilidou in the first round. Galina then found herself playing against world number 5, Maria Sharapova. Though she was not able to defeat Sharapova, she was able to win one set.
All in all, Galina has won 216 career matches and has lost a total of 172 career matches. She has garnered the amount of $681,500 in prize money. To date, she has no recorded career singles or doubles title in the WTA. However, Galina played better in the ITF as she has a record two ITF singles titles and eight ITF doubles titles
