Junior Career

Golovin’s junior career was marked by rapid progress and promise. Training at Nick Bollettieri's academy, she developed a strong all-court game and quickly transitioned to the professional circuit, making her ITF debut in 2002.

Career

Golovin turned professional in 2002 and made an immediate impact, reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open in 2004 as a teenager. That same year, she won the mixed doubles title at French Open with Richard Gasquet, becoming one of the youngest French Grand Slam champions.

She reached her first WTA singles final in Birmingham in 2004 and was a semifinalist at the Paris Indoors and Charleston, defeating top-10 players including Elena Dementieva and Venus Williams.

Her breakthrough in singles came at the 2006 US Open, where she advanced to the quarterfinals, defeating Nadia Petrova and Anna Chakvetadze before falling to Maria Sharapova. Tatiana Golovin reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 12 in February 2008.

She captured two WTA singles titles: the Bausch & Lomb Championships in Amelia Island (2007) and the Slovenia Open in Portorož (2007).

Tatiana Golovin’s career was hampered by injuries, most notably a diagnosis of lower back inflammation in 2008, which forced her to retire from professional tennis at age 20.

She made a brief comeback attempt in 2019 but ultimately retired again due to ongoing health issues.
