Xavier Malisse
Xavier Malisse is a professional tennis player from Belgium who is the only men's player to be ranked in the top 20 of the ATP tour. Born on July 19, 1980, Malisse turned profesional in 1988 and won his first professional title in 2005 in Delray Beach, followed by another win in Chennai in 2007. He also won in doubles with Olivier Rochester in the French Open doubles championship in 2004.
In 2005 Malisse faced off with Andre Agassi at the 2005 US Open, where he took the third set tiebreaker in the third set, dominating Agassi in the next set, before Agassi fought back in the finals and eventually emerged the winner. A year before that Malisse also faced off with Andy Roddick, lasting up to the fourth round at the 2003 US Open. In 2006 he faced Roger Federer in the QF of the Rogers Cup in a three set match, losing to the world number one with a score of 6-3.
In 2009 Malisse was still at 205 in the rankings and lost his first tournament of the year in Brisbane to Bobby Reynolds, and lost to Mario Ancic in Medibank International. He had more luck at the Australian Open when he won in the qualifying matches. It was in October when he won in Lyon that he entered the worlds top 100 for the first time nigh two years. In 2010 Malisse competed in Wimbledon but lost to Sam Querry in the third round.
