Gaston Gaudio
Gaston Norberto Gaudio is a professional tennis player from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Born on December 9, 1978 in Temperley, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Gaudio was once ranked No. 5 in the world in 2005 after managing to rise up the ranks and defeated many known names in the tennis world.
So far, Gaudio has been noted as one of the most unpredictable tennis players in recent history. This is because he has developed a style of making shots with a single handed backhand shot as well as hitting dropshots.
When Gaudio was younger, he learned to play the game when he was still 6 years old, while playing at the Temperley Lawn Tennis Club. His first ever coach was Roberto Carruthers, and although he excelled in tennis, he also played in other games such as football and rugby. However, he chose tennis above all else because he wanted to help his parents financially during the harsh economic crisis.
Gaudio excelled a lot as a tennis player during his amateur years. In fact, he was ranked among the top Argentine juniors, landing just a rank after Mariano Zabaleta. He turned pro in 1996, and was able to win two ATP Challenger events two years later. Over the years, Gaudio was able to be victorious in various events, often landing in top spots.
So far, he has a career record of 26-38 with three career titles. He has also played in all of the Grand Slam events, his most memorable of all was when he won the French Open in 2004.
