Thierry Ascoine

Thierry Ascione is a French professional tennis player who was born on January 17, 1981 in Villeurbanne, France. Ascione is best known for currently being an active player of the ATP Tour.

Ascione plays right-handed with a one-handed backhand, and is known to have started his tennis playing when he was just eight years old. Sports excellence is known to be in their family as his uncle used to be a European boxing champion, while another uncle was also a World military boxing champion.

Ascione is coached by fellow countryman and ATP professional, Jerome Potier, and has fought with a number of well known tennis players such as Roger Federer and Marat Safin.

Since turning pro in 2000, Ascione has a 21-46 record, but has not yet won any career titles. He is currently seated at the No. 161 spot in the world, while he has reached No. 81 on February 9, 2004. This was the highest he has reached. He has also played in all of the Grand Slam tournaments as a singles player.
