World number one Novak Djokovic cruised into the third round of the French Open on Thursday but next up he faces his Madrid Masters conqueror Grigor Dimitrov.
The Serbian crushed Argentina’s world number 83 Guido Pella 6-2, 6-0, 6-2, as he continues his bid to win a maiden French Open.
Djokovic’s next opponent is the improving Dimitrov, who defeated him recently in Madrid and is the 26th seed.
“Even though his style of game could be better on the hard court or faster surfaces, he’s showing that he can play equally well on clay,” Djokovic said.
“Here it’s best of five. It’s going to be very physical and all the hard work that I put into in preparations for this tournament hopefully will play into my advantage and will pay off on the court.”
